The Seal Beach Animal Care Center’s annual Wag N’ Walk event was held October 1st and it was an amazing event! I missed out last year so this was my first time, and I was blown away. People came from all over to participate and donate and have a great time. Can you believe this was the shelter’s 16th year putting on this event? We had had some rain the night before, but that day was gorgeous and surprisingly hot, even down by the beach!
With a very excited Dante on my arm, I didn’t focus as much on my photography as I normally would, but I got a few shots that made me smile.
At the beginning of the walk, I spotted the coolest German Shepherd ever.
I couldn’t get over how many people there were! Too bad for anybody trying to drive around Main Street that morning.
They were having a costume contest later, so I dressed Dante up in his Super D cape but decided not to enter him after seeing the Smurf Dogs (below). Even their owners dressed up to match!
Once everyone was back from the walk they had a variety of events, food and vendors. Who can say no to kitties this cute?
Many of the volunteers had each brought a dog currently up for adoption, and after the walk they did a puppy parade which was super fun to watch. Several dogs were adopted that afternoon or in the following days as a result!
The people and dog watching was awesome.
On the left is Yogi, who was like night and day compared to when I photographed him a few months ago – so happy and social! The volunteers had done an amazing job helping him to come out of his shell. No surprise he went to a new home that day!
And on the right is Mary Beth, one of the shelter’s main coordinators and who I work with in getting photos up on their website. She’s awesome!
I’m so glad the event was such a success for the shelter! Looking forward to next year already. :)
