Five Years of Dante & A Giveaway

Today we’re celebrating Dante’s seventh birthday and also the fifth anniversary of his adoption day! Normally I would share my favorite photos of him from the past year, but because it’s something of a landmark number, I thought I’d share some of my favorites of us actually together from my recent session with Nancy(Scroll down for the giveaway!)

Without Nancy I would have almost none with me in the shot, since I’m always behind the camera. I keep going back to look through these photos, I love them so much! They’re exactly what I had envisioned – she just gets me, man. :) I have yet to decide which one(s) to print, so any opinions are appreciated!

I’m just so darn grateful to have this snuggly bundle of endless love. Last year I wrote a bit about what having him in my life has done for my personal growth (and I also explain why his birthday and adoption day are the same), click here to read that. Tonight, we’re celebrating with a special salt-free beef patty from In-N-Out for the birthday boy and lots of snuggles!

So, in order to celebrate how awesome it is being the mama of a rescued pup, today I’m sharing the love by giving away this awesome travel mug. I have one myself and love it! It’s ceramic and the lid is silicone so you can throw it all in the dishwasher for easy cleanup. I love using it at coffee shops because it always starts a conversation with the people behind the counter (and because you save a paper cup, obvs). :)

To enter, just leave a comment with what you love most about your pet – or if you don’t have one yet, why you want to opt to adopt. I’ll give you guys until the end of the day next Thursday, March 28th and the winner will be announced on Friday. I’m happy to ship anywhere. :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and good luck!

Friday With Dante

There was lots of snuggling on this past Sunday as Dante and I hid from the cold snap and watched the Golden Globes while I nursed a bit of a migraine. Of course as soon as I get up, he’s right into my spot and laying on his side in the hopes of getting belly rubs.

Some goodies I found in the webby world this week:

  • An amazing sci-fi short film done by a 22-year-old that, unsurprisingly, has gotten everyone’s attention.
  • Big thanks to my friend Ami for introducing me to Humans of New York. It’s exactly the kind of photo + word combo that I love. (And if you’re in the Seattle area, she’s an amazingly talented photographer herself.)
  • I’m a total font hoarder, and this list of 25 Romantic Fonts (most of them free) by A Subtle Revelry led me to some gorgeous ones I hadn’t seen before!
  • This post on Movie Bingo Night from Design*Sponge has some free downloads to help you throw your own. I can’t wait to play!

This weekend will see me at the shelter catching up on new arrivals and doing some retail therapy with my mom. :) Last weekend’s CrockPot adventure was Chicken Tortilla Soup and it was sooo good – and really low-cal too! I think I’ll try another recipe from the Table For Two blog, because so far she hasn’t let me down. This one for CrockPot Beef and Broccoli is calling my name.

What are you guys up to? Any fun links to share?

Friday With Dante

I could have sworn I shared this film shot of Mister Squinty Face on the blog, but apparently my memory isn’t up to snuff. It’s one of my favorites from that roll; I crack up every time I see it!

Some fun goodies around the interwebs this week:

Last weekend I wound up making Chicken Tikka Masala as my first CrockPot meal. It was sooo good but made enough to feed an army, so I had to freeze some for later! I’m still trying to figure out if I cut the recipe in half, do I cut the cook time in half? Any tips are appreciated. :) I’m planning on trying either Chicken Tortilla Soup or New England Pot Roast.

Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!
