Now that Christmas is over, I can finally share one of the favorite gifts I made! A while back, my mom found a book of quotes my grandmother (mom’s mom) had kept in the years before she passed. I always knew I wanted to do something with it, I just wasn’t sure what. But then when I was brainstorming ideas for Christmas gifts, and thinking about doing a large print of one of the photos we did to celebrate my parents’ 30th anniversary, it hit me that I could try and combine the two!
Luckily, my grandmother had fabulous handwriting and wrote down this great quote about marriage:
Marriage resembles a pair of shears, so joined that they cannot be separated; often moving in opposite directions, yet always punishing anyone who comes between them. ~Sydney Smith
So I scanned in the page, isolated the quote, erased the background and pulled it into the photo. And voila! The perfect gift to make my mama cry!
I’m only kind of kidding about making her cry. And I always join in anyway. I’m thinking of ordering copy for myself too. I’ll find room to hang it somewhere…
Let me know if you’d like a tutorial on how I isolated the quotation from a scanned page. It takes less time than you’d think and it’s a super handy Photoshop skill to have in your arsenal. :)
