Friday With Dante

Today is a very special Friday – because it’s Norway’s National Day, known as Syttende Mai! Of course every year my dad can’t resist putting out as many flags as possible.:)

Good stuff on the interwebs recently:

  • Since they’re nine hours ahead, I can already see photos from the Syttende Mai celebrations in my family’s hometown of Stavanger (I was actually born in Bergen after my parents moved there for my dad’s job)
  • These ten cooking shortcuts from Design Mom are pretty darn ingenious
  • Who doesn’t love Maddie the Coonhound? Dog Milk posted a great update on everything she and her dad, Theron Humphrey, have been up to. I can’t wait to meet them in September!
  • Stunning photography of the continuing war in Afghanistan by Majid Saeedi, as seen on Faded & Blurred
  • The sweetest (and easiest) gilded votives and bud vase DIY from Ez at Creature Comforts

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I’ve got my first BBQ of the season, looking forward to it. I plan on being back next week with some actual content.:)

Good stuffs around the interwebs:

  • I’m in love with Zachary Smith’s graphic design work. The kid is only 20! Found via Design Is Mine.
  • One of my favorite photographers, Kim Miller, has launched a print shop, including a lot of her amazing Polaroid work. Now I just have to decide which one I love most…
  • Roo’s latest edition of This is How I Feel is pretty much spot on for me as well.
  • This hostful episode of the Nerdist Podcast had me cracking up while everyone around me was yelling at the bumper-to-bumper traffic, so it must be good!
  • A little boy and his Newfie, a photo series by mom Stasha Becker. Be still my heart.

I’m not ashamed to admit that part of the appeal in upgrading to the iPhone 5 recently (besides the fact that my 3Gs could hardly hold a charge anymore) was the forward-facing camera. That moment when a sleepy Dante still wants to climb in mama’s lap when she’s working late at night? MUST be captured.

Now I just need to adjust to how wide the angle is on that lens – my hand looks gigantic! At least I’m wearing pretty nail polish (Spa Ritual’s Introspective).:)
